Clarification On Our Post About Disney Considering An OT Re-Release

Posted by Eric on July 22, 2013 at 08:55 PM CST

Yesterday I shared a post from The Digital Bits' Bill Hunt that seemed to suggest the possibility of Disney re-releasing the unaltered Original Trilogy now that it owns the intellectual property. Unfortunately for fans who hoped that this was a sign of things to come, I misread Hunt and unintentionally mischaracterized what he wrote. I interpreted his comments to mean that he or others had heard things from inside Disney, when in reality he was relaying conversations that he had had with his friends. Hunt contacted me to clarify that this was what his post was describing.

In conclusion: There are no whiffs of secret Disney plans to re-release the OT in its original, unaltered form. I'm sorry for the false alarm and I regret the error.

And now back to our regularly scheduled Star Wars coverage.
