Sabine, Rebel Weapons Expert, Joins Star Wars Rebels

Posted by Eric on February 19, 2014 at 08:15 AM CST

The Hollywood Reporter has introduced us to the first female character on Star Wars Rebels: a "feisty" weapons expert and graffiti artist named Sabine, voiced by Tiya Sircar.

Sabine may wear pink Mandalorian armor, but Dave Filoni says she has "turned against the Empire." She's a different kind of Star Wars character in that she blends her combat experience with artistic sensibilities. As CG supervisor Joel Aron puts it, she's "expressively creative through art -- whether it's the color of her hair or what she's done to her armor."

When you combine a guerrilla warfare tactician with a graffit artist, you get a rebel who thumbs her nose at the enemy. "The Imperials will always know when the Rebels have attacked because Sabine likes to tag the site," Filoni says. "She'll use her blaster and blast the Phoenix onto the wall."

Check out the introductory video below and then head over to The Hollywood Reporter for more information about Sabine.
