Liam Neeson Would Love To Play Qui-Gon Jinn Again

For many people, Liam Neeson was the best part of The Phantom Menace. Qui-Gon Jinn's demise at the hands of Darth Maul was widely viewed as both untimely and unfortunate. Those fans should take heart, however, because Liam Neeson shares their love of his character.

"That would be terrific," Neeson told Yahoo! Movies when they asked if he wanted to come back. "I don't know [how it would work], unless you went back in time or he becomes a hologram or something. He's a Jedi, anything could happen, it's Star Wars world!"

Qui-Gon's return is actually completely plausible. The Clone Wars already established the fact that he had learned how to preserve his essence after death. He visited Yoda in the form of glowing lights at the end of the series, in a quest to teach Yoda how to do the same thing. Whether Qui-Gon could only return in glowing-light form, or whether he could become a Force ghost like Yoda eventually did, is an open question. Regardless, the character didn't disappear after Episode I, and there's no reason The Clone Wars has to be the end of him.

Neeson also shared his thoughts on the teaser trailer for The Force Awakens, in particular Kylo Ren's lightsaber.

"I had a couple of worries about that lightsaber. I thought if it comes in [towards the body] and is close to you, it's like having a jet of [burning] fluid hitting your clothes and your skin, but I’m sure they've thought that out."

We certainly hope so, Mr. Neeson. If not, maybe the Force ghost of Qui-Gon Jinn could come back and teach Ren and his ilk a thing or two about lightsabers.
