Marvel Comics announced at its San Diego Comic-Con Cup O' Joe panel today that its Star Wars publications will begin with a high-powered trifecta. The company's first three series are Star Wars, Star Wars: Darth Vader, and Star Wars: Princess Leia.

Newsarama was the first to reveal the covers for the three series, seen above.

Star Wars will be written by Jason Aaron and drawn by John Cassaday, Darth Vader will be written by Kieron Gillen and drawn by Salvador Larocca, and Princess Leia will be written by Mark Waid and drawn Terry Dodson. All three series pick up after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.
  • The series simply titled Star Wars follows the core cast of heroes from the original trilogy, and it begins two weeks after Episode IV.
  • The Darth Vader series follows Vader on his quest to regain his reputation after the destruction of the Death Star, which has dealt a massive blow to the Empire. The series will explore Vader's relationship with bounty hunters.
  • The Princess Leia series is actually a five-issue miniseries that focuses on Leia in the aftermath of Alderaan's destruction. It will explore her growing role in the Rebel Alliance. More miniseries are expected to follow this one.
The first issues of each series will be released in January, February, and March of 2015, respectively.

StarWars.com has posted a lengthy chat with Jason Aaron, Kieron Gillen, and Mark Waid that you can read right here.
