Star Wars fans, take comfort in these words: development of the next Battlefront game is proceeding apace.
Electronic Arts' Frank Gibeau, who leads EA Games, recently told investors that EA's DICE unit was working hard on the game and had been encouraged by the positive reaction to their E3 teaser trailer.
"We showed 22 seconds of where we're going with it and the fan response was very positive," Gibeau said during EA's Fiscal Year 2014 first quarter earnings call a few days ago. "The DICE team is well into development on that product already, so we feel very bullish about our shooter rotation over the next several years."
Curious about how closely the new game will track with its predecessors? All Gibeau would say is that it still "has a third-person component to it."
After hearing next to nothing about DICE's Star Wars: Battlefront since the announcement it at E3, it's good to know that things are still on track.
