Theft On The Set Of The Mandalorian

Posted by Steve on October 25, 2018 at 02:28 PM CST

The Blast is reporting a major theft on the set of Jon Favreau's series The Mandalorian, including potentially very sensitive information.

The report states...

A police investigation has been launched into a theft on the set of the new “Star Wars” TV series, and Lucasfilm is scrambling to make sure no major secrets to the show have been compromised.

Sources close to production tell The Blast all hell broke loose after a bunch of expensive equipment went missing from the set of Jon Favreau‘s “The Mandalorian” while shooting at a studio in Manhattan Beach. We’re told the working theory is that the gear was stolen overnight while the set was dark.

We’re told the buzz among the crew is that the stolen equipment was from the camera department, and production is extremely worried a memory card containing sensitive information may have been jeopardized.

Both Lucasfilm and police have launched investigations to try and locate the missing gear, and our sources say the main crew members grilled during the initial probe were those that deal with the cameras.

An official for the Manhattan Beach Police Department confirmed that their officers responded to the theft call around 11 AM and the situation is under investigation.

Listen, cameras can be replaced but memory cards with "sensitive information" perhaps cannot. Let's hope the card didn't contain anything that can't be recovered or wasn't so important that its potential loss isn't a huge deal. It would be a shame if important details about the show were leaked from these burglars and Lucasfilm would really have a problem on their hands.

Stay tuned for more information as it comes in.
