will cue you into a fun musical event coming up in late October...Portland Symphony Orchestra explores the symphonic sounds of Star Wars in the first Discovery Concert of the season
PORTLAND, Maine – The Portland Symphony Orchestra will feature the terrific sounds of Star Wars during its first Discovery Concert of the 2013-2014 season: Star Wars Symphonic Spectacular. The concert will take place on Sunday, October 20 at 2:30pm at Merrill Auditorium and will be led by PSO Assistant Conductor Norman Huynh.
Music lovers and fans of the films alike will be drawn in as the orchestra tackles the timeless tale of an epic battle between good and evil. Designed to entertain all ages, PSO Discovery Concerts are an opportunity for the whole family to experience the orchestra, with performances lasting for about an hour. Guests are encouraged to arrive early at 1:00 for games, crafts, and a hands-on instrument petting zoo.
The concert is sponsored by IDEXX Laboratories and TD Bank.

Two more Discovery Concerts are planned for the 13-14 season; February 2, Peter and the Wolf, and May 11, Harry Potter and the Magic of Music. New this year, guests who purchase all 3 Discovery events in one transaction by October 19th will automatically join the PSO Discovery Club. Each Discovery Club household receives a card that allows the whole family to attend special post show discovery events, plus a voucher for a pair of tickets to a classical or pops series concert.
