The following was written by former Rebelscum.com team mate Mark Hurray.
Disney studios opened their doors and their screening room last Friday to members of the Fan Press, and introduced the first two episodes of Star Wars Rebels, season two. After a very brief introduction by Dave Filoni, the lights went down and the fun began. For the spoiler conscious, and by Disney?s request, I won?t go into detail, but I will tell you the Rebel Universe is set to get much larger. Stepping away from the tight focus of season one, season two promises a much grander Star Wars scale. As the universe is wide open so are the chances that a few familiar faces will pop up. Three of whom make this opening two parter a must see. The look of these episodes, for me anyway, have a stronger McQuarrie feel. Part one takes our heroes on a rollicking ride that harkens back to the barrel/chase scene from Steven Spielberg's Jaws, complete with echoes of a very John Williamsesque score from the same film.
The second part, pits the crew against a trio of the universes more infamous four legged friends and wraps with the introduction of a new baddy tasked with hunting down the Rebel Jedi. For fans that may have been lulled into the Lothal centric first season, season two should be a wake up call. Part one of the season opener will premier on Disney XD October 14th at 9:30 pm, with part two airing the following week.
