On The Eve of Rebels, Lucasfilm Gives The Clone Wars Fans A Last Glimpse At Unseen Material

Posted by Eric on September 25, 2014 at 09:00 PM CST

Lucasfilm today unveiled The Clone Wars Legacy, a collection of previously unseen, unfinished material from the canceled sixth and seventh seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The crown jewel of the collection is a set of four full-length but unfinished episodes that form the Crystal Crisis on Utapau story arc. The episodes are in animatic form but include full dialog. Supervising director Dave Filoni introduces the story arc in a special video.

There are also three concept art galleries from unaired episodes of The Clone Wars. The first is for Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir, the story arc that became the Dark Horse Comics mini-series. The second is for Crystal Crisis on Utapau. The third is for Dark Disciple, the Asajj Ventress/Quinlan Vos story arc that became the 2015 novel by Christie Golden. The concept art confirms that the book's name will be Star Wars: Dark Disciple.

In the video below, Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm Story Group member Pablo Hidalgo, LucasBooks Senior Editors Jennifer Heddle and Frank Parisi, and The Clone Wars Season 6 Head Writer Matt Michnovetz discuss the groundbreaking work that went into over five seasons' worth of animated television, how the three unfinished story arcs fit together, how two of them came to be adapted in different forms, and what it means to them that fans are so excited for more material from The Clone Wars.
