Domain name watcher Fusible
reports that Lucasfilm has snapped up a bunch of web addresses that may contain cryptic hints at the direction of the
Star Wars franchise. The following domain names were recently added to the Lucasfilm collection:
- gunganfrontier2.com
- gunganfrontier3.com
- gunganfrontier4.com
- order67.net
- starwarsalliance.com
- starwarsrebels.com
- starwarswolfpack.com
- wolfpackadventures.net
- wookieehunters.com
It seems unlikely that Electronic Arts (which
now owns the publishing license for most types of
Star Wars games) will be making sequels to 1999's
Star Wars Episode I: The Gungan Frontier, but you never know. The most intriguing items on
the list are definitely the ones relating to the term "Wolf Pack."
The Clone Wars supervising director and noted wolf fan Dave Filoni introduced a clone trooper squad called
the Wolfpack in the show's first season. With the series canceled and only bonus content still forthcoming, it seems unlikely that Lucasfilm would buy domain names to market that squad of troopers...unless
Filoni's new animated series somehow continues their story.
For now, all of these domains redirect to StarWars.com. We'll keep you informed if we hear more about these domain purchases and what they mean for the
Star Wars brand.
