Essential Guide To Warfare Author's Cut #10: The Rise Of The Empire

Posted by Eric on July 29, 2014 at 03:24 PM CST

Jason Fry and Paul Urquhart have posted the tenth blog post in their ongoing series detailing the material from their book, Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare, that ended up getting cut before the book was published.

In this post, Fry and editor Erich Schoeneweiss present unpublished material about TIE Fighter training, the legendary 181st Fighter Group of the Imperial Navy, and the famous "blast shield" that Luke trained with aboard the Millennium Falcon. (Fry wanted the blast shield to be a relic of a bygone era, when Z-95 starfighters carried plasma warheads that were so bright that their pilots had to flip down their helmets' blast shields for protection.)
