Disney: Script For Episode VII Expected In January, No Budget Set

Posted by Eric on December 13, 2013 at 01:16 PM CST

Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn made some comments about Star Wars Episode VII, future Star Wars films, and Disney's acquisition of the Indiana Jones film rights during a talk at Variety magazine's Dealmakers Breakfast. Variety reporter Marc Graser provides the following information:

The six existing Star Wars episodes have had relatively consistent budgets, although there is a clear gap between the two trilogies. The average budget for the original trilogy was $20.5 million, while the average for the prequels was $114 million. 2002's Attack of the Clones was the most expensive film in the saga at $115 million; that's around $146 million in 2012 dollars.
