Disney And Hasbro Extend Star Wars And Marvel Licensing Deals

Posted by Eric on July 22, 2013 at 05:24 PM CST

Hasbro Inc. signed an extension to its licensing contract with The Walt Disney Company for Disney's Star Wars and Marvel product lines, Variety reported today. Under the terms of the $80 million deal, Hasbro will continue to release Star Wars action figures, playsets, and other merchandise until at least 2020. The same is true of Hasbro's Marvel products. Here's more:

"Hasbro’s additional Marvel payments are contingent on additional Marvel theatrical releases. The $225 million extra for Star Wars takes into consideration Disney’s next three installments planned for the space-opera powerhouse, with $75 million payable on signing. “Star Wars: Episode VII,” helmed by J.J. Abrams, currently skedded for summer 2015 release.
Head over to Variety for the full story.
