David Prowse Has Advice For Star Wars Episode VII Audition-Goers

Posted by Eric on November 6, 2013 at 02:45 PM CST

Now that Star Wars Episode VII casting season is upon us, the advice for would-be stars begins to appear. Darth Vader actor David Prowse was one of the first to chime in. He warned Star Wars fans from his native Bristol and other regions with distinct dialects that they should try to drop their accents if they want a part in the film.

Prowse, whose Vader dialog was replaced with James Earl Jones' booming delivery, suggested in an interview with the BBC that fans "disguise their accents" if they want the casting agents to pick them. "You can't go 'oo-aar my dear here's my lightsaber," Prowse said.

Casting in Bristol will begin on November 9, according to the BBC. And while Prowse and Lucasfilm have had their share of tension in the past, the actor said that he would "be there like a shot" if Episode VII had a premiere event in Bristol.
