Today marks the third Star Wars Reads Day, so what better time to bring you our review of Star Wars in 100 Scenes by regular Star Wars author, Jason Fry?
You could be forgiven for thinking that Star Wars in 100 Scenes is nothing more than a series of images that span the two trilogies, or Star Wars-Frames-lite, if you will, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. Author Jason Fry has contributed much to the key events that have been chosen to tell the story of Star Wars, providing text that offers a variety of details related to each scene, that includes behind-the-scenes information and highlights key characters, vehicles, locations and droids.
A brief introduction opens the book and provides a general synopsis of both the prequel and original trilogies, before launching into the saga.
Episode I, which is afforded sixteen scenes, starts with A Plot Revealed and ends with Naboo Celebration, with the likes of Underwater Attack, Dark Adversary, Jedi vs Sith and The Gungan General included along the way. Similarly, sixteen scenes span Episode II, with A Senator in Peril being the first scene, and moving through Planet of the Clones, Tragedy on Tatooine, and Arena Battle, until the last scene, Secret Marriage. Rounding out the prequel trilogy, Episode III gets an extra scene to the previous two, opening with War over Coruscant and closing with Exiles and Hopes, with the events in-between largely being taken from the latter half of Revenge of the Sith, such as Anakin's Fall, Declaration of Empire, and Duel on Mustafar.
