Rumor: Star Wars Replacing Toontown At Disneyland

Posted by Eric on December 3, 2014 at 12:03 PM CST

The folks over at MiceChat bring us this update on Star Wars theme park plans:

[T]he Star Wars project is currently planned to kick off and bulldoze Toontown before [Disneyland's] 60th Anniversary celebration ends in 2016.
As Club Jade points out, replacing Toontown, which is only open at Disneyland following its Disney World closure, makes more sense than replacing Tomorrowland, as MiceChat previously reported. Tomorrowland isn't just big; it's big enough to warrant its own film, which premieres next year.

Meanwhile, Peter Sciretta at Slashfilm speculates that we'll get an announcement of Disneyland Star Wars plans at Celebration in mid-April or at the D23 Expo in mid-August.

With any luck, our friend Tom Hodges will see at least part of his dream come true before too long!
