Rumor: Episode VII To Be Titled 'A New Dawn'?

Posted by Eric on September 9, 2013 at 02:19 PM CST

Entertainment blog Talkbacker is revitalizing a year-old MarketSaw story which claimed that Star Wars Episode VII will have the subtitle A New Dawn.

"As of right now I have two sources confirming this information as accurate," Talkbacker's Gabriel Gray wrote yesterday.

One of Gray's sources also followed up with some tidbits about the movie:

"[T]he falcon [sic] will make a big appearance, 1.1 scale size cross section is being constructed over at Pinewood, along with a power plant set and the famous cantina."
If Han Solo is in the movie for an extended period of time, it's pretty much a given that we'll see the Millennium Falcon. Then again, the extent of Han's involvement in the story is itself uncertain.

As for the Mos Eisley Cantina making an appearance, I'm doubtful. There doesn't seem to be much of an appetite among the storytellers at Lucasfilm for making Tatooine the center of the action in the Star Wars galaxy, and with good reason: it's unrealistic for such a backwater planet to play a pivotal role in so many unconnected events. I'd be surprised if the filmmakers decided to shoehorn Chalmun's Cantina into Episode VII.
