In Insider Interview, Greg Weisman Talks Star Wars Rebels Cast

Posted by Eric on December 3, 2013 at 09:02 PM CST

Tracy over at Club Jade spotted an interesting tidbit from Star Wars Rebels executive producer Greg Weisman's interview in Star Wars Insider #146, which is hitting mailboxes now.

We have two strong female leads in the show among our set of characters and we think they are going to be fan favorites very quickly. Thatís always been a personal priority for me in all the work Iíve done, to have a strong and diverse cast of characters, both in terms of gender and race.
Speaking of female leads, Weisman also discusses The Clone Wars' breakout character Ahsoka Tano in his interview, leading me to believe that her success on TCW was part of what prompted him, Filoni, and the rest of the Rebels team to explore female leads for their new show. Weisman also explained the differences between the rebels in Rebels and the Rebel Alliance in the original trilogy. Plus, his interview is accompanied by new concept art for the series.
