Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure and its sequel Ewoks: The Battle of Endor were made for television movies that originally aired on ABC in 1984 and 1985. These two movies were the first spin-offs following the completion of the original Star Wars Trilogy and gave viewers an extension of the Star Wars universe beyond Return of the Jedi. Beginning on April 2, 2021, subscribers can stream these movies on Disney+.
Caravan of Courage has our Ewok heroes coming to the aid of two humans who have been separated from their parents following a crash landing of their spaceship on the forest moon. The humans, Cindel and Mace Towani befriend the Ewoks and the caravan sets out to help them look for their parents. George Lucas was the writer and Executive Producer of Caravan of Courage with the producers being Thomas G. Smith and Patricia Rose Duignan.
The movie returned Warwick Davis to the beloved role of Wicket W. Warrick and a few other notable actors/actresses from Return of the Jedi. These names included Kevin Thompson and Debbie Lee Carrington who both played Ewoks in Return of the Jedi. The movie would also be the first time we would hear the name Mace in the Star Wars universe.
The Battle for Endor would be the follow up movie a year later which is set several months after Caravan of Courage and returns viewers to Endor for the adventures of the Ewoks and the Towani children. This adventure has our heroes caught in a struggle for control of the forest moon. A notable addition to the cast is Wilfred Brimely who plays the role of Noa Briqualon. This installment was once again Executive Produced by George Lucas and was written by Ken and Jim Wheat.
