Dave Filoni Announces New Star Wars Rebels Character
Posted by Eric on January 27, 2014 at 12:06 PM CST |
Star Wars Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni revealed a member of the Rebels cast in an interview with the German website Movie Pilot. Here's part of Filoni's description of Chopper, a droid serving the Rebellion, from the video that accompanies Movie Pilot's interview:
What can I say about Chopper? He's grumpy. He's a little rickety astromech made up of a bunch of different spare parts because the rebels can't even afford the nice new parts.
The video also features comments about Chopper from several Rebels crew members, including art director Kilian Plunkett, animation supervisor Keith Kellogg, and concept artist Amy Beth Christenson. "If Artoo's your favorite dog," Filoni said, "Chopper's a cat."

UPDATE: The announcement of Chopper as a character in Rebels is now online at the official site. The StarWars.com story gives us new information: Chopper's official designation is C1-10P, his design is based on Ralph McQuarrie's early concept drawings for R2-D2, and he's going to be in Hasbro's 3.75-inch Rebels Saga Legends action figure line.
