TFN Review: LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles By Daniel Lipkowitz

Released to coincide with the animated series of the same name, DK's LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles follows in a similar vein to their two previous LEGO Star Wars titles. As with the LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia and the LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary, the book comes with an exclusive minifigure, this time in the form of a Special Forces Commander.
For anyone who has seen any of Michael Price's hysterical LEGO
Star Wars specials (
The Padawan Menace and
The Empire Strikes Out as well as the two episodes of
The Yoda Chronicles that have currently aired), it will come as no surprise to discover that the book is chock-full of hilarity, taking a very lighthearted look at the diminutive Jedi Master's life. Written by Daniel Lipkowitz, the book opens with an introduction, with the remainder being broken up into nearly thirty sections, each having two pages devoted to it. Among those topics that are covered are Yoda's allies and enemies, both of which feature many familiar faces, with each profile providing details of the characters' homeworld, birth date, rank, by who they were trained and also their weapon. The fact that Stewjon is listed as Obi-Wan Kenobi's homeworld deserves a special mention, coming some three years after George Lucas revealed it at Celebration V. Other sections ask questions such as "Could you be one of Yoda's Padawans?" and "Can you lift an X-Wing?", with more still focusing on Yoda himself, discussing his wisdom, his galaxy, and his home.
The book provides lots of great pictures, with many taken from the one-off specials and series' episodes, as well as re-enacted scenes from the movies and also product shots of many of the multitudes of LEGO
Star Wars sets that have been released over the years. As has been mentioned, the book is a highly-amusing read, but there are also plenty of interesting facts littered throughout, so there's still plenty to discover for even the most diehard fan.
LEGO
Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles is out now and available at all good bookstores, priced $20.99 CDN and $18.99 USD.
