TFN Review: Use The Force! Discover What it takes to be a Jedi... by Christian Blauvelt From DK

Posted by Adam on July 21, 2020 at 10:36 PM CST

Do you think you could make it as a Jedi? If you've ever considered that, then "Use The Force! Discover What it takes to be a Jedi..." by Christian Blauvelt is the book for you!

Broken into five sections, the first, "How COOL are the Jedi?", starts with a brief history lesson, before describing what a Jedi does and some of the abilities a Jedi possesses. "Did someone say ... Jedi?" digs deeper into what is a Jedi, looking at The Jedi Order, The Force and The Jedi Code. The section also touches on the Light Side and the Dark Side, as well as discussing both the Living Force and the Cosmic Force, with a brief mention of Mortis and The Force-Wielders. As the name suggests, "The great and the good" takes a look at some of the more familiar Jedi, beginning with a list of the members of the Jedi High Council before providing a little more detail on some high-profile individuals in the Jedi Hall of Fame. Also covered in this section are Jedi craft and equipment, a spotlight on a number of the lightsaber duels seen in the movies, and finally, a quick recap of the Jedi's place in the Skywalker saga, from The Clone Wars through to Yoda's summoning of lightning to burn down the sacred tree on Ahch-To! The fourth section, "Trial and Terror", describes the path to becoming a Jedi, from Youngling to Padawan, through Jedi Knight and ultimately to Jedi Master, detailing the steps that Force-sensitive children must follow, if they are to succeed, including building a lightsaber and taking the Jedi Trial. "We need another hero" is the last section in the book, and is dedicated to Rey and her journey through the course of the Sequel Trilogy, before the book is rounded-out with a glossary containing many of the words mentioned in the book, from both the real world as well as a galaxy, far, far, away.
