Lecture About The Making Of The Star Wars Radio Dramas

Posted by Dustin on March 10, 2019 at 12:06 PM CST

From our good friend John Tenuto –

Please join College of Lake County sociology professors John and Maria Jose Tenuto, March 16, 2:00PM, at the Cook Memorial Library in Libertyville, Illinois for the premiere of a very special lecture about the amazing Brian Daley and the making of the Star Wars Radio Dramas.

Sharing two year research of archives, interviews, production materials, and rare images, the 90 minute presentation celebrates the contributions of the those who worked together to perform the impossible - turn the visually stunning Star Wars films into thrilling radio adventures dependent only on words and NOT on images!

Special emphasis in this fascinating presentation is on the creative genius of scriptwriter Brian Daley. His contributions to Star Wars began with his trilogy of Han Solo books which were some of the earliest EU produced. Brian's radio drama scripts expanded and enhanced the original movie's 27 minutes of dialog into a 6 1/2 hour adventure. The late Daley's words were the heart of the radio dramas and his life and contributions will be explored in detail.

Special thanks to Brian's widow, Lucia St. Clair Robson, Brian's siblings, executive producer Dr. Richard Toscan, and the family of Joel Rosenzweig, the USC alumnus who had the idea that Star Wars could be a radio drama for their permissions and special family pictures that will be shared.

The event is free, however registration is requested.
