Did Toyota Just Make A Real-Life Star Wars Mechno-Chair?
The Toyota Motor Corporation has won the 2026 Red Dot: Luminary Award for its concept and creation of the Walk Me chair. It was designed to help people with limited mobility in getting up stairs and over curbs.
The first thing that comes to mind? A real-life Mechno-Chair from The Phantom Menace, of course! George Lucas and his team at ILM were way ahead of this idea nearly 30 years ago when something similar appeared in Episode I.

The Walk Me chair also brings the person seated up to eye level with everyone else making a more pleasant experience when in use. There's no price or release date announced yet, but it will be something for consumers to look forward to down the road.
