A GUIDE TO THE HIDDEN WARS CHARACTERS
to himself, then the Empire
Background: An average Fleet Officer, DeVries joined the cause of the Empire with little skill but much commitment: he enjoyed the many opportunities the Empire offered to express his devious and racist nature, and felt the military had finally the free hand he thought they deserved. While taking part in many campaigns, he rarely demonstrated any particular prowess or skill, on the contrary displaying in many occasions an uncanny incompetence in taking decisions or carrying out orders.
It was only a matter of time before his path crossed with Darth Vader?s: in one particuarly unfortunate occasion DeVries failed the Dark Lord for the last time, and as a reminder, the Sith Lord touched the face of the commander with the Force, devastating his appearance and punishing him for his ineptitude.
Not even granting him a complete execution, Vader left the commander disfigured and gurgling on the floor of the flagship and moved on to more important business, but to DeVries? deranged mind this was the last straw. Relegated to the lower ranks of the Fleet and devastated in his appearance, he vowed revenge on the Dark Lord. It is possible that Vader took little or no notice of the Commander?s promise, but in DeVries? twisted mind, this new purpose took precedence over everything else, and since that has become his own private obsession.
Objectives: to regain prestige and position in the Fleet; to get revenge on Darth Vader
A quote: "With all the psychos I had to endure lately, it is a wonder I am still sane of mind!"
(Note: the commander?s name is an explicit homage of Artist Filippo Rossi to the Dune Saga)
