SPY REPORT: Episode II Pilot Cameos Posted By Joshua on July 10, 2001
Episode II extra Timelord, whose eight-part prequel diary was featured here on TFN, chimes in with new news on a few scenes and some interesting cameos of the Episode II crew and a few unmasked cast members:
On the second day we filmed the nightclub scenes. As I said some time ago there will be quite a few cameos in this scene if you look closely. I didn't specifically say before, but I know that we'll be able to see both Anthony Daniels and Ahmed Best unmasked and as pilots. I vaguely remember that that was what they were supposed to be, but their attire wouldn't suggest a pilot. They were both well dressed in a green/grey type colored uniform which made them both look very respectable.
There is also an Ishi Tib type alien whose wearing the same thing. Also behind the bar you will see Ian Roberts serving drinks and chatting to the customers that pass his way.
One of the Select Photos had some feet standing in a tubular structure as I recall. These tubes were in the nightclub and featured dancers inside (hence the feet). As for the dialogue in this scene, I won't say what it was exactly but I will give you a hint. We see Obi-Wan at the bar talking to someone. I only heard this from another extra as I couldn't hear it where I was, so it may not be totally accurate. But apparently the gent Obi-Wan is talking to asks him if he'd like to buy some "deathsticks" (or something like that). It is here it becomes a great hommage to the originals. Obi-Wan says a few lines that would, you might say, work well against a weak-minded stormtrooper.
Once this is over there is a dramatic action scene that takes place very near to the bar that involves Ewan, Hayden and Leeanna. That is all I will say, for to say any more would give away a major spoiler, though you may already know it. I will add a paraphrase of what Hayden says after the action to the crowd (us) gathered to watch though. It goes along the lines of "...go about your business". I'm paraphrasing mainly because I can't remember what he said exactly.
I told myself to write it all down, but the idiot that I am I didn't. I do remember that Hayden kept fluffing this line though, I think he had the wrong teeth in that day.
There's been some discussion on Episode II cameos on other Star Wars websites recently as well, hit our prequel links section for a list of some good sites to go to as well.
UPDATE Josh here with a quick update. I've need to send some props out to Episode-X and Aldera.Net for their great work getting some of the first word out on this news. I wasn't sure who to credit in my original report, and these guys deserve the commendation.
