DecipherCon 2000 Update: Day 3 Posted By Josh on October 7, 2000
The new Young Jedi World Champion was crowned earlier today and the lucky player is Ian Vincent, a representative of the UK and a player who won the open tournament on Day 1 to advance to Day 2. On Day 2 he finished third and advanced with 11 other players to Day 3. He won the tournament on Day 3 and proceeded to the final confrontation with Philippe Parise of Ontario, Canada. The two players split the two game playoff, with Ian taking the victory and the title by a mere differential of seven. Congratulations to our new Young Jedi Champion. On the Star Wars front, Matt Sokol of Albany, NY(also entering into the World Championships on Day 1) just pulled off a dramatic win in the final confrontation to become the new World Champion. The competition was hot with World Finalist vets Paul Feldman (Alderaan Champ), Steve Brentson (Kashyyyk Champ), Yannick Lapointe (North American Champ), and Gary Carman (defending World Champ) all in the final 12. Feldman, Brentson, and Carman were all eliminated early and it came down to Matt and Yannick. Congratulations to Matt for a job well done.
