Women Out in Force Posted By Joshua on March 11, 2002
William sends us this observation:
Yesterday, while viewing the new "Clone War" trailer (over and over again), I was struck by what I believe is the first shot from a Star Wars movie of a female Jedi in action. She is in the middle of the frame, blocking a blaster bolt, at 1:57 of the trailer. She is holding a purple sabre, and is visible until another Jedi, moving from the left of the frame, spins and crouches in front of the camera.
First, the Phantom Menace gave us female starfighter pilots (and briefly saw the female Jedi on the Council), now we have some full equality in battle among the Jedi. If Uncle George keeps on this progression, maybe by Episode III we'll have a female Sith?
Interesting comparison to women in the military possible here as well, but we'll leave that for another time. Maybe George is telling us what he thinks about it? Coopra noticed this as well, and thinks it is possibly Bultar Swan, Jedi extra from the feature starwars.com ran last month. Could be!
