ResqJedi writes in with this report from the Wizard World convention with reaction to the Star Wars - Connections, now that it has arrived in Chicago:
Just got back from Wizard World, day 2, and boy what an afternoon!
Steve Sansweet had ALL his tapes today, much to the delight of a full auditorium, and I mean full. Jam packed to capacity. Enough about that.
The good stuff arrived. The good stuff being the Star Wars:Connections video and a 2 minute Behind the Scenes of Star Wars Episode 2 Video.
Connections was a lot of video clips rehashed from the (up to now) five behind the scenes clips from the official site and the Episode 2 preview on the most recent trilogy release, in addition to a couple of scenes with Anakin and Ben titled "The Odd Couple" and Jango and Boba Fett "Bounty Hunters...we don't need their scum".
Most striking was the connection between Ben and Anakin, how they are really best friends, and how Ben looks at Anakin as "truly being dead" when he turns into Darth Vader. The clip shows scenes of Obi-Wan admonishing Anakin with his (Anakin's) lightsaber outside the bar, and Obi-Wan jumping onto the yellow hot rod that Anakin is driving, all the while exchanging remarks with him.
The Boba/Jango Fett scene shows both Jango in and out of helmet, and young Boba. The clip added a part from Rick McCallum saying the Boba Fett was shaped by the "most dramatic events of that time". Cool stuff!
The final 2 minute behind the scenes film was phenominal. Yesterday, Steve had alluded to a full Jedi battle. This clip showed scenes of unknown Jedi actors (probably the martial arts people from Australia) wielding lightsabers (one actor had TWO seperate ones and was spinning them!), Mace Windu displaying stategic swings, conservative moves, and a neat one where he takes his lightsaber and stabs back (into what I assume will be a computer generated character) without looking behind him. Anakin does some AWESOME sword handling that makes Obi-Wan's twirl thing from TPM look childish! They also showed the ramp of the Nubian with all the actors diving like an explosion going off, as well as clips of Jango Fett and Jimmy Smits as Bail Organa. Plus a lot more of the Jedi fighting, falling, and Natalie Portman twirling a gun and accidently dropping it and watching it break into pieces, all the while Hayden and George watch.
I don't want to say too much more, but I definitely am looking forward to the movie, with great expectations!
I can't wait to see it myself. I (Josh) was there on Friday and missed the show, so will have to look forward to seeing it later. If this presentation is coming near you soon, make a point to check it out.
