SPY REPORT: Recycling Effects Posted By Scott on October 17, 2001
Earthmonkey checks in again with some information. Highlight to read:
When Star Wars Special Edition came out, it included rontos added to Mos Eisley. Those were actually the same computer models used for the brontosaurus in Jurassic Park reworked for Star Wars. Looks like this recycling of computer models is being done again for Episode II.
Earthmonkey reports that the super-A.I.'s shown at the end of Steven Spielberg's A.I. are going to be reworked into the Kaminoan aliens in Attack of the Clones. The water and storm scenes from The Perfect Storm are being reused on the water planet of Kamino. Other dinosaurs from Jurassic Park are going to be turned into background creatures on Geonasis, and the pterodactyls from Jurassic Park 3 are being reworked into the "flying whales" we've heard about. Mainly the wing movements and flight patters are the same with the model itself being overhauled to a greater degree. George Lucas is apparently letting other movies and studios pay these "Models" / "Constructs" and they become almost like test shots for the Star Wars movies. In this way Lucas is really a marketing genius - what he has done in effect is to have all of the prior projects "pave the way" for his ultimate creation "the Star Wars Saga" thus saving countless $$ perfecting his effects on other peoples projects.
