SPY REPORT: Raiding the Cupboard

Posted By Joshua on November 9, 2000

Here's a compliation from four different and reliable sources about a connection to the classic trilogy. You probably already know they're involved in this prequel-sequel, but how many and to what extent may be considered spoiler. What type of character is involved is not that staggering in an of itself, since that has already been revealed in an official picture.

The real meat of the report comes in a twist you haven't heard of before, as well as a few plot points about a scene with these characters. Read on!

Spoilers! Highlight with your mouse to read below:

The Tusken Raiders will be featured in Episode II, and I'm not talking about the Ranch Softball team, either. We're talking about a fantastic connection again to the classic trilogy, but far more expanded on than in The Phantom Menace. Expect to see even women and children.

In fact, the day before we filmed a small group of Jedi children (unrelated scene), and another day they required Tusken Raiders and also a child Tusken Raider which I thought was interesting.

There is another scene with these Tatooine sand devils, one that involves a lightsaber. This was shot against blue screen when we were in Sydney and also required the characater of Obi-Wan. Not a major plotline I know but something.

A little analysis from Josh: For some reason, we were also told that Pernilla August was required for these scenes. Is it possible that Shmi is taken by Tusken raiders? If so, or if something happens to her, you've got to expect Anakin to go pyhcho on anyone near him when he hears or sees what happens. Cool.

Admit it, you've been missing these spy reports. You're hooked, aren't you? :)
