SPY REPORT: I Am Your Mother Posted By Joshua on August 22, 2001
Trusted insider O-2D7 chimes in with some new details on a scene featuring Anakin and an important returning character:
Anakin and his mother are certain to be the subject of much discussion as we get closer and closer to the release of Episode II. At Ealing they shot a few scenes simply entitled, Tatooine Anakin Mom.
It is interesting to note a few minor changes during those Episode II reshoots in England now some months ago. One was that Lucas was looking for a wider shot of Anakin on this Tatooine bluff as he overlooks the Tusken campgroud. The camera pulls in tighter in that introduction sequence.
Near the end of that scene, and after some critical discoveries, another scene needed to be shot again. This time they put the cameras really close to Anakin outside of the Tusken hut. Originally he was just standing there, and in the latest version he raises his saber.
For the most part, those were the only days basically they shot with the Tatooine setup, the next day the same set was used for something totally different. Of course, you can do that when all everyone sees is blue.
They filmed these scenes just after a stage shift and new dialogue for Anakin and Obi-Wan in the Corusant City Speeder Chase. What was in the original script was changed after seeing a rough cut and everything continues to evolve as did the production. But we'll save that for another time.
