SPY REPORT: Farewell

Posted By Sebastian on November 9, 2001

An old source by the name of Baby Hum returns with a few tidbits about a scene in Attack of the Clones. Spoilers below, so beware if you're spoiler free til' Episode III:

Spoilers! - Highlight to Read

Artoo is minding Anakin and Padm?'s ship as a transmission comes through. He dutifully turns and starts to play it. A robed figure pops up as a hologram.

A sombre air hangs over the Lars homestead on Tatooine as Shmi Skywalker is laid to rest. Standing around her grave are Cliegg, Owen, Beru, C-3PO, Padm? and Anakin. Cliegg says his final farewell to his wife, thanking her and saying that wherever she has gone is now a better place. There is a pause, and then Anakin steps forward. He regrets that he wasn't strong enough to save her, and that he misses her. And that he won't fail her again.

Silence falls on the group. Suddenly, it's interrupted by a flurry of beeps and whistles as Artoo joins the group. Padm? looks puzzled, and asks why he's left the ship. Artoo replies in another flurry of whistles. Threepio deciphers that he's carrying a message from an Obi-Wan Kenobi, a name he is unfamilliar with. Like he asks Luke years later, he asks Anakin if he knows who Artoo is talking about...
