SPY REPORT: Droids Don't Think Posted By Joshua on March 31, 2002
Behemouth forwards us a new tidbit about how a new droid in Episode II works. Here's the scoop:
Obi-Wan is at the Analysis Cubicles of the Jedi Temple and sets the dart on the tray waiting for him. The PK-4 Analysis Droid whirs to life and begins analysing the small weapon that had killed Zam just a short time ago.
The droid comes up with little information, only suggesting that it is a custom and unique weapon made by a warrior for battle. It doesn't match the markings of any known culture. The droid is limited in its searching capability, but does offer that if it can't identify it, no one could.
Obi-Wan later heads to Dex's Diner, in the seedy underbelly of Coruscant. He finds the cook after assuring the waitress Hermione Bagwa that Jettster isn't in any trouble. They joke about old times over a nice cup of ardees and then get down to business.
He knows the origin is Kamino, and once had an encounter with the culture when he was prospecting on Subterrel, a planet just beyond the outer rim. Dexter tells him that the analysis droids don't actually think, but focus on symbols instead of other potential identifiers.
He jabs at the Jedi Knight by saying that a Jedi should know the difference between knowledge and wisdom. A bit later, Obi-Wan is returning to the Jedi Temple to get directions from Jocasta Nu and will head for the rainy planet to complete his investigation.
