Sneak Peek at AOTC Scrapbook

Posted By Scott on April 15, 2002

Again, thanks to Barnes&Noble.Com, I got my hot little hands on a copy of the Attack of the Clones Scrapbook. Written by Ryder Windham, this is a compilation of photos, trivia, and behind the scenes info on the film. Next to the Visual Dictionary, this is your best source for information on Attack of the Clones. Just to give you a tase of what you can find, here are some highlights. Minor spoilers are ahead, so tread carefully:

- Obi-Wan's new lightsaber replaces the one he lost in the fight with Darth Maul. It is almost identical to the previous one.

- The Jedi Starfighter is officially known as the Delta-7 Aethersprite light interceptor. R4-P17 is a droid modified by Anakin. Unlike other R4 droids, this one does not have a conical head.

- There are 20 Jedi Children in the Bear Clan.

- Adi Gallia is still on the Jedi Council. Her cousin, Stass Allie, dresses almost identically and is seen in the battle on Geonosis.

- The new council consists of Adi Gallia, Oppo Rancisis, Even Piell, Shaak Ti, Saesee Tiin, Ki-Adi-Mundi (now a Jedi Master), Yoda, Mace Windu, Plo Koon, Depa Billiba (who does not join the Geonosis battle), Eeth Koth, and the new Coleman Trebor.

- Count Dooku's Solar Sailer is a Punworcca 116-class interstellar sloop.

- The Naboo Cruiser is a J-Type diplomatic barge. Padme's Starship is a customized H-type Nubian yacht.

- Hat Lo is the boss of Elan Sleazebaggano.

- Zam's speeder is a Koro-2 all environment exodrive airspeeder.

- Bounty Hunter's Creed - No hunter shall kill another hunter or interfere with another's hunt. (Uhh...doesn't (spoiler)Jango kill Zam?)

- Lama Su quote: "Clones can think creatively. You'll find that they are immensly superior to droids."

- The Republic Gunships are built by Rothana Heavy Engineering, a subsidiary of Kuat. Doug Chiang is quoted as saying, "George wanted these [Republic Gunships] to be helicopter-like flying vehicles." They fit in with the more used universe feel of the classic trilogy.

There are also a number of really interesting photos in the book. Here are some highlights. Drag your mouse to reveal some spoilers:

Picture 1 - Padme and Captain Typho on the landing pad
Picture 2 - Dannl Faytonni (aka Anthony Daniels)
Picture 3 - Hat Lo, Coruscant Crimelord
Picture 4 - Achk Med-Beq (aka Ahmed Best)
Picture 5 - Ayy Vida (don't look too closely)
Picture 6 - Tas Kee, Hat Lo's enforcer
Picture 7 - WA-7 waitress droid
Picture 8 - Queen Jamilla
Picture 9 - Obi-Wan broadcasts his greatist hits.
Picture 10 - Obi-Wan vs. Dooku
Picture 11 - Zam Wesell transforms

This book is well worth picking up. It will hit shelves April 23rd and is a must-have for Star Wars geeks.
