More Official Site Observations

Posted By Joshua on April 11, 2001

Our spies told us about a month ago that Obi-Wan would have a blue lightsaber, despite rumors that early concept art showed him with a green one. Today's Official Site overhaul shows a new picture of Obi-Wan, with a blue saber. Here's what AciDRaiN327 and many others observed:

I was just looking through all the updates and beautiful redesigns of The Official Site, when something odd caught my eye. The large, left-set graphic in the new Episode II section depicts an Obi-Wan, obviously circa Episode II; however, he's posing with the lightsaber he had in Episode I - the same that was cast into the melting pit by Darth Maul. Was this done on purpose, just in effort of obtaining a dynamic shot without giving any details away? Or will Obi-Wan be wielding a *very* similar, if not the same lightsaber he owned in Episode I?

It is blue, that much is true, and there are a few subtle differences people say if you look closely. Other tidbits include this from Jedi_TaganCalera:

If you'll notice that when you hit "refresh" at the Official Site the images change. I have downloaded a few pictures from Episode II that I had not seen before. There is one of Padme in the white suit with her Naboo blaster and the white cape.

And Darth Plaid gets the most attention to detail award tonight as well:

Check out the official site databank for Sidious and Palpatine. The two characters are different heights!

Sidious is 1.78 meters, and Palpy is 1.73 meters. That's a whole 2 inches of height difference there.

Does this mean that Sidious is a different person than Palpy? Or does it merely mean that Sidious has discovered that advantages of elevator shoes?

Mr Peur has discovered a new photo of Darth Sidious which clearly looks Palpatine. But what gives with the height differential? As Sherlock Holmes would say, "Watson, the game's afoot."

And finally Matt pulls this tidbit down about Boba Fett:

"Little is known of Fett's past. His style of armor has gone unseen since the days of the Clone Wars, but whether Fett participated in that terrible scourge is unknown. Fett's armor is a battered weapon-covered spacesuit equipped with a rocketpack. His gauntlets contain a flamethrower, and a whipcord lanyard launcher. His kneepads conceal rocket dart launchers. Several ominous braids hang from his shoulder -- trophies from fallen prey -- which underscore this hunter's lethality."
