Matt Drudge Ambushes The Clones... Again Posted By Chris on April 15, 2002
A month ago he broke the news that Harry Knowles had seen a roughcut of AOTC. And Matt Drudge was at it again last night on his syndicated radio show. Here's the report from Gregory 'EagleIFilms' Harbin:
On the Matt Drudge show on Sunday night, Drudge "previewed" the AotC soundtrack, saying "Screw Lucasfilm."
He played Across the Stars in the background while playing a speech by George W. Bush about Human cloning. Later, he played a conglomerate of pro-cloning scientists, and Bush, talking at the same time, with "Across the Stars" playing again in the background. It was quite moving, to say the least.
He also played a clip from a pro-cloning scientist who said, "I'm not afraid of clones. I'm not afraid of an attack of the clones!"
(Can't get enough of Drudge's style? Check out Dug's Report!)
UPDATE - Gregory added the following:
I was listening to my tape again, and I heard something I had forgotten about.
A rant against people lining up for Episode II already. Here it is:
'This is the Attack of the Clones tie-in, not the Taco Bell tie-in, this is your Drudge tie-in. You know, they're already lined up! They're already lined up at that, uh, right in front of that new Kodak theater where they had the Oscars, the lowest rated Oscars in history, at the corner of Hollywood and Highland. Fans of the Attack of the Clones, Star Wars, have been camping out for DAYS, and days, and days. (long silence) It doesn't debut till May 16th, I think that's the date. But devoted fans want to make sure they are first in line. The cue, started, what, a week ago? I think even before that--even a month before the premier date! They're quoting Jason Thomas, one of the 60 die-hard fans in the camp outside of the Chinese theater. He says, 'At night you see some real strange dudes. The police remember us from 3 years ago when we waited for the last Star Wars, The Phantom Menace." I hear some of those went away disappointed. "Most of us are local, and in the last weeks, before the movie opens, many of us will take vacation time so that we can do more waiting as the tension builds." So I guess they're 'changing up'. Someone's waiting for the other. Now they're trying to get into the Guinness Book of World Records, by waiting outside for more than 100 days. To see their clones.'
It should be added that all this was said in a highly sarcastic manner.
