Dark Horse reveals Jango Fett's Origin

Posted By Scott on April 6, 2002

It looks like Dark Horse is going to try and fix some of the discontinuity between the origin of Boba Fett as explained in the Expanded Universe Novels and that to be shown in Episode II. It looks like some of those facts, such as the Fett's ties to Concord Dawn, are going to be pinned on Jango Fett. Randy Stradley at Dark Horse talks about their upcoming comics:

On sale right at the end of April is Jango Fett -- Open Seasons, a four-issue series by writer Haden Blackman (who also has had a hand in many of the fantastic games from LucasArts) and artists Ramon Bachs and Raul Fernandez. This is the same team that brought you the recently-completed Star Wars: Starfighter series, based on the LucasArts game of the same name. Because some of the plot particulars in Open Seasons tie directly to events in Episode II, I would be remiss in my duties if I revealed too much before the book's on-sale date. But I can tell you that the series recounts the life of Jango Fett, and the many trials that shaped him into one of the most legendary characters in the Star Wars canon. Along the way, you'll be introduced to a number of new and very dangerous characters -- on a handful of heretofore unseen planets with names like Concord Dawn, Korda, and Galidran. The events on Galidran especially burn in the memories of the Jedi...

And speaking of dangerous characters and new worlds, over in the ongoing Star Wars series (issues #42-45), John Ostrander, Jan Duursema, and Ray Kryssing pit Jedi stalwarts Quinlan Vos and Aayla Secura against a father-and-son team of Morgukai assassins! Who are the Morgukai, you ask? Right. Like I'm gonna spill the beans here. Suffice to say, they've got the will, the training, and the weapons to go toe-to-toe with Jedi. In fact, there's nothing they like better! Of course, the whole Jedi versus Morgukai thing is all wrapped up in a fair amount of political intrigue that could mean trouble for the planet Ryloth, the homeworld of the Twi'leks.
