C-3PO Contradiction? Posted By Joshua on August 12, 2000
Green_Cross_Code from the Jedicouncil forums made an excellent observation a short time ago about C-3PO we thought should be posted. Here's the scoop, with minor spoilers if accurate: TFN received a report on Saturday 22nd July regarding Anthony Daniels and C-3PO in Episode II. In the report, Lucasfilm representative Steve Sansweet described Daniels? role in Episode II as ?puppeteer? of C-3PO.
This suggestion, that Threepio will be a puppet once more in Episode II, does not seem to tally with a report from the Official Site, dated June 27th. In it, Ben Burtt, Editor of Episode II, stated that ?The thrill for me today was seeing C-3PO reborn. I got to put the faceplate on Anthony Daniels. The character suddenly came alive.? You can read the report here. There would appear to be a contradiction here from two official sources.
First impressions may be that one of them is mistaken or misquoted. However, there could be a simple explanation for taster Obi-wan be wielding Qui-gon's saber? In the ten years will Obi-Wan construct a new lightsaber? Will we see the familliar blade he used aboard the Death Star in A New Hope? Or will he continue to keep the memory of his fallen master alive? Feel free to discuss it in the Jedi Council forums.
So will we see this in the movie? Well, we probably won't see Obi-Wan walking around on the Fox Australia backlot with a lit lightsaber, no, but hopefully we will see Obi-Wan in Episode II with the green rather than the blue we've always known him for! And a special thanks to Darth Happy, Darth Sebious and dehrian for the story!
