Natalie Portman's Hair Disaster

Posted By Scott on November 7, 2001

As you might have seen, Natalie Portman dyed her hair pink for Halloween. Shortly after, she had to do reshoots for Attack of the Clones in the UK. What happened between then? The Boston Herald reports:

It took eight hours and two stylists but ""Star Wars'' sweetie Natalie Portman is a brunette again after a disastrous Halloween dye job left her locks a shocking shade of pink!

Natalie, a sophomore at Harvard when she's not playing Queen Amidala in George Lucas' three ""Star Wars'' prequels, colored her hair bright pinkish/red for a Halloween party. She went as Lola from ""Run Lola Run'' fame.

""When she first walked in, I'm not gonna lie, it was a little shocking,'' said Rachel Sternstein, an office assistant at Salon Mario Russo on Newbury Street where Portman underwent the emergency, 8-hour procedure Saturday. ""She had a friend of hers - I guess - do it.''

John Brosnan, Mario Russo's main color man, did the rehab on Natalie's hair, which he described as ""fluorescent pink.''

""It took six hours for her to do it, and longer to undo it,'' Brosnan said. ""We did about five different things to her and Corey Henderson blew her dry. When she walked in, you couldn't even tell it was her. When she left, she looked really good.''

Brosnan said Portman, who's in the new trailers for ""Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones'' that debuted over the weekend, has some serious tress distress after the Halloween hair horror.

""It damaged her hair to do it and it dried out even more because of what we did,'' he said. ""But at least we brought it back to a semi-normal color.''
