Sound Problems at EP3 Screening in Maryland Posted By Britany on May 22, 2005

I went to see Episode III last night at The Majestic Theater in Silver Spring MD. A brand new theater.
The theater I was in, theater 20 had terrible sound! The sound was so poor I couldn't believe it! It sounded totally muffled and low. I can get better audio on my home TV system!!!
After 10 painful minutes of this I ran out the theater (I hated to do this because it meant missing the movie I had been waiting for for years) and telling the manager they needed to turn the sound way up in theater 20. He got on the walky talkie and told whoever, "Turn the sound down in theater 20, it's too loud!" I said "No! turn it Up, Up, Up! It's too low! This guy was foreign so I guess he misunderstood me.
After I ran back to the theatre, and found my seat again, after bumping everyone's knees and feet, I sat there for 30 more minutes and they still kept it low! They didn't even try to bring the sound up! At this point I was not only let down and frustrated but very angry.
I made the decision to leave after about 30 to 40 minutes because I sincerely felt this was ruining my Star Wars experience. Any die-hard Star Wars Fan knows Star Wars is not only a visual experience, it's an Audio experience too! Ask Ben Burtt, Sound Designer for all the SW movies! I was thinking to my myself "this is an insult to Ben Burtt, George Lucas and all the people who worked on this movie! And us as paying moviegoers! What is this, a bad joke?"
The end of the story is I left and asked for my money back and they gave it to me. I will see Star Wars again over the weekend but definitely not at this theater!

Unlike LT, I saw RotS at Majestic 20 on the 19th and it was great!
Theatre 1 was barely crowded, the movie started on time, and everything was perfect! No sound problems at all... guess they were having a bad day... I will definitely go back there sometime to see it again, but I will keep an ear out for those sound problems!
