'Revenge of the Sith' in Hong Kong Posted By Britany on May 15, 2005
Chris sends in info on the Star Wars promotions running in Hong Kong:
All Star Wars films were rated I (suitable for all ages), except for Episode III which got a IIA (not suitable for children) rating. Quite similar to the films' ratings in the US.
A direct translation for the Hong Kong subtitle of Episode III is "The Dark Emperor Arrives".
Last week saw a series of making-of shorts of Episode III showing on television channel TVB Jade every night at 11:35. I haven't seen them but I think they should be the Quicktime movies from the official website.
TVB Pearl is showing the previous five films and promoting them madly. TVB even asked Lucas for approval to create costumes of the characters from the films and made their actors wear them for promoting on TV. The actors show up during commercials and tell the audience some facts about the saga.
There are Episode III posters everywhere: in the subway, in the streets...
Coca-Cola, Sprite and Vanilla Coke have released aluminium cans with Star Wars characters printed on them. For Coca-Cola, there's Darth Vader; Anakin Skywalker; and C-3PO with R2-D2. For Sprite, there's Obi-Wan Kenobi; and a clonetrooper. For Vanilla Coke, there's Yoda.
M&M's also have their "M-pire" promotion in Hong Kong too.
