Whether they were Jedis or practicing members of the "Dark Side of the Force," fans flocked to movie theaters around the country on May 19 to see the final chapter in the Star Wars saga, "Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith."
At the Cinema Center theaters at Susquehanna Valley Mall, fans waited for more than two hours before the movie was scheduled to begin at 12:01 a.m. Thursday.
"The fans just continued to buy tickets, and we ended up selling out four theaters for this showing only," said theater Manager Kim Blessing that night. "There are 734 people here tonight to see only this movie. It is absolutely incredible."
To prepare for the night's events, Blessing and other Cinema Center personnel watched a private screening of the film twice the day before. Blessing gave it a resounding two thumbs up. "I watched it twice and will be seeing it again," she said. "I am a sci-fi girl, and it's one of the best things ever for sci-fi fans. I had issues with Episode I and II, but this has them beat hands-down."
Several fans came to the theater dressed as their favorite characters, like Kyle Witcoski, of Sunbury, who spent hours creating a special suit. Adding a helmet and red light saber, he had one of the better-looking Darth Vader costumes at the premiere.
