Modesto EP3 Charity Screening Report Posted By Britany on May 15, 2005
David sends in report of the Modesto charity screening of 'Revenge of the Sith', which took place May 13th:
I had the great oppurtunity to attend the Modesto Charity Premiere of Episode III to help benefit the Gallo Center for the Arts, a local art museum in Central Modesto.
My friend, my mom and I all drove from Portland, Oregon to Modesto, California.
The one and only Mark Hamill showed up for the first black-tie showing, along with other celebrities as well. All the celebrities were interviewed during their red carpet stroll, but the crowd was going crazy for Mark. And rightfully so, as he took alot of his own time to sign tons of autographs for the crowd.
My mom somehow snuck toward the front of the crowd of fans and got one of the first autographs and pictures taken with Mark. She then pointed me out while I was boosted by my friend over the top of the crowd and I reached my hand over the crowd, as did he and got to shake his hand with him saying "Don't fall over now!" Later, my friend reached his hand over and got to shake Mark's hand and asked him for a special shoutout to one of our teachers at our school. Mark enthusiastically gave the shoutout, with all of this being captured on film. It was really amazing to see his generousity and how much of an effort he took to give back to the fans.
The film was amazing. Totally worth the price of admission.
After the film had gotten out, which was unfortunately around 2:00 AM in the morning, many of the celebrities were to be seen at the nearby Doubletree Hotel, but for the most part everyone was on their way home.
The movie and the experiences were completely worth more than the 25 hours of driving.
It was the perfect way to end a legacy.
