Episode 3 opened in Malaysia much like in any other countries, May 19. But I instead caught the Friday night show at 10:45pm since I brought my mother and brother along with me. Although it was not the sought after midnight shows people looked forward to, it was still the best darn show we ever attended!
We arrived TGV Ipoh at 10:20pm with absolutely no problem (traffic, weather, etc.) at all. Sadly to our disappointment, there were no costume fans around. Not even people in Star Wars t-shirts!
In the hall we seated. After three movie trailers and several ads, lights went down. Heart pounding, teeth grinding, excitement growing, the 20th Century Fox and Lucasfilm logos came on. To our disappointment, there was no participation by the viewers. No clapping, no cheering, no whistling, no NOTHING! In the other words, totally lifeless!!
The movie went down incredibly smooth. A problem arose during the lightsabre duel at the end though. Nothing biggie, the Dolby got 'downed'. Imagine watching a movie without the surround. Nevertheless, throughout the course of the movie, we entertained ourselves. We talked to each other quietly, trying to piece together the entire episodes.
Deep breaths of Lord Vader later. Only the three of us clapped happily-satisfied like some madmen when the lights went up and as the credit rolled.
