Happy Fans at EP3 Screening in Kansas City Posted By Britany on May 19, 2005
Another AMC Theater in Kansas City gets full marks from fans who attended EP3 screenings. Joy writes:
At the Independence AMC Commons 20, all 20 screens were sold out for Star Wars. The line started when the theater opened. I got there at 2pm and was the third group in line.
AMC did a special where all 20 oz. bottle drinks, small popcorn, and hot dogs were a dollar a piece. People pounced on that like flies to honey. There were tons of employees working last night, and they had a few of them coming out every half hour or so and taking orders for any concessions people wanted.
The theater was very prepared for the onslaught of the crowd. Back when Phantom Menace premiered, they were very unprepared and not ready for accommodating such crowds. But now they were on top of their game.
The four largest auditoriums were opened at around 8:40pm. People for the other screens were let it, but put into lines near their individual auditoriums.
Security was heightened, with at least three cops on patrol. We also had two or three Clonetroopers and an Imperial Guard keeping watch. I don't know if they were people hired by the theater or employees or possibly someone from those cool SW brigades.
They had employees at the door of every auditorium, checking ticket stubs; if you left the room without it, you wouldn't get back in.
As we got our tickets torn, they had two people standing behind and passing out free Attacktix figurines to everyone. Most or all of us got a Wookiee Warrior.
All in all, saying that this experience was awesome would be an understatement. This was truly the event of the year. Even better than the last two prequels combined!
