I dropped my friend off at the AMC Hoffman 22 in Alexandria, VA at 8:30AM to start the wait (he was the first in line!), and came back at noon (I had to attend a meeting at work). The theatre is located in the middle of an office complex, and everyone was great the entire day. Every now and then, office-workers would stop by and chat with us about the movie and about waiting in line.
The local restaurants were very generous, especially Ruby Tuesday. The line ran directly in front of their store, and they never complained. They let us use the bathroom all day, and the outdoor waiters and waitresses even took food orders from us! Around 2 or 3PM, several Target employees drove up in a van and surprised everyone in line with survival gift bags that included cereal, water, M&Ms, and a very cool collectable Target Episode III coin!
The theatre itself was great. They stopped showing other movies around 8PM, and let us all go and sit down at 9:30. Like the other AMC theatres, they were selling small popcorn, hot dogs, and 20oz bottles of soda for $1. They welcomed the many fans in costume, and had no complaints over people saving seats for their friends (we had 25 in our party!). The movie started on time, and ran to completion with no problems. All in all it, was a great day!
