After reading some rather amusing stories of god times at midnight showings, I thought I would share mine!!
I live in Sacramento CA, and watched this great film at the century theatres at greenback.
I bought my ticket for episode 3 the day they went on sale, a whole month before the release date! and planned a whole day dedicated to waiting in line for the best movie experience this millennium!
However, I just started a new job and had to work until 10pm! I was so down, but my new manager, without me asking her, let me go early for the movie! Luckily I had friends holding a place for me and my fiance.
It was raining that day so the theatre staff let the fans into the theatre's at 9:30pm. I arrived at about 10pm, and my friend had saved us the best seats in the house! Right in the middle! I had my laptop with me and watched episode 2 on it waiting for the show to start. I timed it perfectly so ep2 ended about a minute before midnight! I had people squeezing next to me and everyone behind me watching with us!
During the wait there were plenty of people (kids, teens, adults) up in the front of the theatre playing with their forceFX lightsabers. This one kid dressed in full jedi garb and wielding a blue saber was so good he kept winning every duel!! he was getting cheers from the audience each time he slay an opponent. He even started calling out people in the audience who had light sabers. and they would come down and fight him, and loose! It's too bad this jedi kid wasn't there to fight off the jedi purge.
The movie ran great, everyone clapped at the THX ad, but we were all getting annoyed at the many previews. But the audience roared at the 20th century fox logo, again roaring at the Lucasfilm logo, and even louder at the "a long time ago.." shot. I almost went deaf at the main fan fare shot!
Everyone enjoyed the film, laughing and crying, and again roaring with awe at the end credits. A great showing here in Sacramento!!
