Well, I went to the 12:01 showing at Wabash Landing Theater in Lafayette Indiana. This is located right off of Purdue campus.
Theater 1 tickets were the earliest bought and we were the last in & the movie started late and sounded terrible.
"I have a bad feeling about this."
Anyway they started the trailers with lights up and we watched them all in various states of unrest. Batman Begins was met with oohs and aahs, Fantastic Four the same, Narnia was greeted with quite a few interested hmms...
So the movie starts and everyone is into it. REALLY into it.
Then approximately at 1:55 AM the screen goes dark & the film keeps playing. Boos, swears and temptations of the Dark Side began to permeate the theater. A lackey came out and said that the bulb went out & it would be 5-10 minutes to change & the film could not be rewound.
Over 20 minutes later a manager comes out and says that they can not fix the problem & we would all receive passes to another showing. Before THAT we were told that no passes would be given even IF it got up and running again.
Having travelled a half hour to see this with friends I was disappointed & demanded a refund. Even though an equipment error was to blame the management should have still offered something extra to apologise and accommodate. Free popcorn? Another pass? ANYTHING?
Overall no one was to upset but the theater majorly dropped the ball.
