I'd like to report on the digital projection screenings of Ep III at Hoyts in Sydney's Fox Studios.
In a word: fantastic. The images are much sharper than on film. There's no contest. I was blown away by the incredible level of detail in the digital characters, vehicles and environments. The scuff marks on the droids, Grievous' eyes, etc, there's just layer upon layer that'll take many viewings to really take in.
And the sound is amazing too. There are a few subliminal cues throughout the movie (of Vader's breathing) which I missed when I first saw it.
The only thing I noticed was if you sat too close to the screen the images lost their quality a bit, however just moving a few rows back solved this.
The image quality, however, does not retract from the emotional impact of the story. It immerses you further into this mythical world. When you look into Yoda's eyes, you can feel his pain.
Needless to say, I loved Episode III and think it's the best one of all six!
